The Excellence of European University Sports
The European University Sports Association (EUSA) is not just an acronym: it is the beating heart of academic sports on our continent. It is a non-profit organisation that acts as a bridge between national federations, universities, and thousands of student-athletes who choose to compete at the highest level every year.
The Mission: Why do we do all this?
EUSA was born with a clear goal: to spread the ideals of university sports throughout Europe. By working closely with FISU (the world federation) and other international institutions, the Association works to:
- Create Connections: Develop a constant communication network between national sports federations.
- Coordinate Action: Organise championships, conferences, and mass events that are not simple competitions, but moments of collective growth.
- Representation: Be the official voice of university sports at European institutions.
- Technical Support: Through the EUSA Institute, the association provides professional and technical training, organising workshops and seminars to elevate the quality of the academic sports system.
Our Values
Participating in an EUSA event means adhering to a precise code of ethics. It is not just about the result on the scoreboard, but how you achieve it. The pillars we defend are:
- Fair Play and Ethics: We promote healthy competition, where respect for the opponent is as sacred as victory.
- Equality and Inclusion: We actively support gender equality and good governance at every level of decision-making.
- Health Protection: The safety of the athletes is our priority. This is why we implement strict measures against doping and any form of competition manipulation.
- Education through Sport: We firmly believe that sport is the best teacher for learning discipline, resilience, and teamwork, fundamental skills, even off the pitch.
Road to Salerno 2026
For EUSA, championships and major events (such as the upcoming EUG Salerno 2026) are not just a show. They are tools to:
- Leave a Legacy: Improve the host cities’ sports infrastructure for the benefit of local students.
- Promote a Dual Career: Demonstrate that it is possible (and successful) to excel simultaneously in studies and high-level sports practice.
- Unite Europe: Create a sense of belonging to an international community, breaking down cultural barriers through the universal language of sport.
All this vision will converge in Italy, from July 18 to August 1, 2026. Salerno will be the stage where EUSA’s values become a tangible reality, in perfect synergy between the University of Salerno and CUS Salerno.
