RUGBY 7s: University of Coimbra and University of Lyon Take Gold at EUG 2026

The University of Coimbra has claimed gold in the men’s Rugby 7s tournament at the European Universities Games Salerno 2026, while the University of Lyon took the top spot on the women’s podium.
On the pitch at the Dirceu Stadium in Eboli, student-athletes from across the European universities world showcased exceptional skill and fair play. In the men’s final, the Portuguese team from Coimbra defeated the University of Rennes 12-5. The bronze medal went to the University of Vic, following a 17-0 victory over the University of Parma (Italy).
In the women’s tournament, the title went to the University of Lyon after a 19-0 win in an all-French final against the University of Clermont Auvergne. The University of Zaragoza completed the podium, securing third place with a 22-7 victory over the University of Vienna.
