The first medals are awarded: Zamojski Academy (Poland) and the university of Paris (France) win team table tennis gold

Poland and France claimed the first two gold medals of the eighth edition of the Games, in the men’s and women’s team table tennis events respectively.

Representing Poland, Zamojski Academy stood on the top step of the podium after defeating the University of Pécs in the men’s final. The Polish team of Jakub Stecyszyn, Artur Grela, and Szymon Kolasa secured a 3-2 victory over the Hungarian trio of David Szantosi, David Molnar, and Erik Huzsvar, who took the silver medal.

As is customary in table tennis, there is no bronze medal match, meaning two bronze medals were awarded. Completing the podium were the University of Porto and the University of Vienna.

In the women’s competition, the University of Paris claimed the title with a convincing 3-0 victory over the University of Ljubljana in the final, played yesterday, Monday, 20 July, at the PalaSele.

Gold therefore went to the French trio of Lilan Li, Agathe Avezou, and Leili Mostafavi, while silver was awarded to Slovenia’s Katarina Strazar, Lea Paulin, and Gaja Mavri.

As for the bronze medals, Hungary doubled its tally as the University of Pécs, after taking silver in the men’s team event, secured bronze in the women’s competition alongside the University of Zagreb.
