Football, handball, badminton and tennis tournaments gather pace. Beach volleyball and rugby 7s get underway today

The European Universities Games (EUG) Salerno 2026 continue with another busy day of competition, as the University of Salerno teams take to the field across several disciplines. With some results already recorded and many more fixtures scheduled, the Salerno athletes continue their campaign in the continental event.

In the badminton team tournament, the University of Salerno suffered a 1–0 defeat to the University of Geneva. The women’s football team also fell short, losing 2–1 to the University of Girona at the Vittoria Stadium in Fisciano.

In men’s football, the University of Salerno will face the University of Lausanne. This evening, attention turns to the men’s handball tournament, where the University of Salerno will take on the University of Duisburg-Essen at 7:00 p.m. at the Palumbo Sports Hall. Tennis action is also on the schedule: the University of Salerno women’s team will face the University of Porto at 3:30 p.m., while the men’s team will meet the Budapest University of Economics and Business at 2:30 p.m.

The beach volleyball tournament also gets underway today. The University of Salerno women’s team opened with a 2-0 defeat to the University of Porto but will return to the sand at 5:10 p.m. to face the University of Toulouse. The men’s team will take on the West University of Timișoara before playing their second match of the day at 6:50 p.m. against Oslo Metropolitan University.

The Rugby 7s competition also begins today. The University of Salerno men’s team will make its debut at the Dirceu Stadium in Eboli against Middle East Technical University before returning to the field at 4:36 p.m. to face the University of Coimbra. Off the field, today will also feature the General Technical Meeting for the 3×3 basketball tournament, during which the competition draw and group stage will be officially determined.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, 29 July, the University of Salerno teams will once again be in action. At 12:00 p.m., the women’s tennis team will face Gdańsk University of Technology at the municipal courts in Salerno, while the men’s team will meet the same university at 12:30 p.m. on the Mariscoli courts.

The Rugby 7s tournament will also continue tomorrow, with the University of Salerno men’s team returning to action at 12:42 p.m. against the University of Vic.

In the evening, at 7:00 p.m., the spotlight will once again be on the Palumbo Sports Hall as the University of Salerno men’s handball team takes on the University of Oslo in its second group-stage match.

Tomorrow’s schedule also includes the semifinals and final of the badminton team tournament. The pairings are still to be confirmed and will be announced once the preliminary stage has concluded.
