Countdown to EUG Salerno 2026: Official Press Conference Announced

With exactly one month to go until Europe’s largest university sporting event kicks off, the University of Salerno is preparing to host a key press conference. The briefing, titled “European Universities Games – EUG SALERNO 2026 | One month to go“, will take place on Friday 19 June at 11:00 am at the “F. Alison” University Theatre on the Fisciano Campus.

The Games themselves will run from 18 July to 1 August, transforming the UNISA campuses and surrounding local territories into a vibrant hub of international sport.

The Organising Team and Partnership

Brought to Italy under the direction of the EUSA (European University Sports Association), this marks the eighth edition of the prestigious games. The 2026 Organising Committee brings together:

• The University of Salerno
• CUS Salerno (University Sports Centre)
• ADISURC (Regional Agency for the Right to University Education)

The event is further supported by FederCusi and the Campania Region.

Scale, Scope, and Logistics

The upcoming press conference will outline the complex organisational framework required to control the influx of visitors. Over the course of two weeks, the tournament will bring a massive international presence to the university campuses and the provincial territories of Salerno and Avellino:

• Around 4,500 student-athletes
• 40 European countries

Beyond the sporting fixtures and races, the event will feature official ceremonies, experiential cultural events, and dedicated opportunities for socialising.

Driven by the official slogan “Passion never ends”, EUG Salerno 2026 is designed to be a true European celebration built on inclusion, community-building, and intercultural dialogue. This welcoming spirit is perfectly embodied by the official mascot, “Splash”, a name chosen unanimously by the students themselves.
